EIAT Prep’s content is written by Michael Briglio, a federally recognized pre-apprenticeship instructor who has helped hundreds of students get accepted into union apprenticeships. Test-format facts, fees, and recruitment dates come from NEIEP’s own published materials. Application and interview strategy comes from his experience preparing students for union apprenticeship selection processes — when guidance is instructor experience rather than a published fact, the page says so.
EIAT Prep is independent — not affiliated with or endorsed by the IUEC, NEIEP, or any union or testing organization.
Official Test & Program Administrator
NEIEP runs all elevator-constructor apprenticeship recruitment and administers the aptitude test. Its published materials are the gold source for every test-format fact on this site.

Nothing on those pages is our estimate: published window dates and tentative next-opening months are NEIEP’s own values, reproduced as published.

Source for the verified test breakdown we publish: 100 multiple-choice questions (35 reading, 35 mechanical aptitude, 30 math), the $25 fee, and the 70% pass/fail standard. Note: NEIEP does not publish a time limit or calculator policy, so we never assert one.

Source for every fact on our interview page, quoted rather than summarised: that your ranking on the hiring list is based on your interview score; that the interview is scored by two interviewers and averaged, pass/fail with 70% the minimum to receive a rank; that the process is standardized nationally so the same questions and rubric are used at every recruitment; that interviews run 15–20 minutes on average; that correct responses on the tool assessment count toward the interview score, not the test score; and that applicants who fail the aptitude test are not interviewed but may re-apply at a later recruitment. NEIEP does NOT publish the interview questions, the rubric, or any tool list — so neither do we.
